PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the maintainability of an air conditioner having a self-diagnosing function. SOLUTION: A remote control switch enables switching between a normal mode and a service mode. When a push button is operated in the service mode, it requests the output of an error code based on the results of self-diagnosis (steps 200, 202, 210). The microcomputer of an indoor unit comprises the self-diagnosing function. When it receives signals according to the operation of the push button in the service mode, it transmits an error code based on the results of the self-diagnosis (steps 220, 222, 226). When receiving the error code, the remote control switch displays an image showing the received error code (steps 212, 214) and facilitates the confirmation of the results of the self-diagnosis.
