PURPOSE: A method of printing the page background of a printer is provided, which has an effect on improving the satisfaction level in paper work by providing various background images stored in the internal memory of a printer to be used in the paper background, without transmitting the background data from a host computer to the printer. CONSTITUTION: A method of printing the page background of a printer comprises the steps of : selecting a desired page background data from page background lists; reading the data in the corresponding address of the nonvolatile memory; controlling the brightness of the selected page background data according to the brightness control command to draw up a display list of a page; then redrawing up the display list by lapping the print data over the brightness-controlled page background data without increasing a page due to the current printing data inputted from the outside.
