PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a driver from overestimating a collision mitigation device for a vehicle, while maintaining a function for mitigating damage when the vehicle collides, in the collision mitigation device for the vehicle for mitigating damage when the vehicle collides. SOLUTION: A CPU 11 of a collision mitigation controller 10 operates a controlled object 40 when calculated collision time becomes a judging line of an automatic brake 1 in which avoidance limit time or less is set or less. The avoidance limit time shows limit time for avoiding the collision of an object with the vehicle by operating the controlled object 40 by the driver. The damage when the vehicle collides therefore can be mitigated if collision mitigating processing is interposed by the PCS (Precrash Safety System) 1, but the collision itself cannot be avoided, and thereby the vehicle can be prevented from being stopped before the collision.
