The assembly has a steering column (5) comprising a steering shaft (15) rotably mounted in a column body (13). A steering column support (11) has connecting units (21, 29) authorizing movement of the body with respect to the support to regulate position of a steering wheel (7) connected to the shaft. The support comprises an intermediate region (59) supported on a case (1) disposed between front and back fixation units (53). An independent claim is also included for a vehicle.
