PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing tape for reinforcing a brittle part in a woody member and provide a method for reinforcing a woody member using the reinforcing tape. SOLUTION: The reinforcing tape 1 is used for reinforcing the brittle part 3, that is, a damaged part 3a, a joint part 3b of a mutually joined woody member 2, an end joint part 3c of board members 71 of the outermost layer of the laminated lumber 7, the knot part 3d of the board member 71 of the outermost layer of the laminated lumber 7 and the like, of the woody member 2. The reinforcing tape is provided with a flexible base material 4, which has nearly the same Young's modulus as that of the woody member 2 in the brittle part 3, made by forming the woody fiber 41 of a wood into the form of a sheet and an adhesive agent 5 which is impregnated into the base material 4 and composed of a thermosetting resin.
