A dosing apparatus 1, for a powdery, granular or flaked substance, has a homogenizing device 20 in a containment chamber 30, and an offset dosing device 10. The dosing device 10 may be a helical screw feed with rotation axis X. The homogenising device 20 may have ploughshare mixing vanes 21 with rotation axis Y. In use, to help prevent bridging of powder, rotation axis X is offset with respect to axis Y such that the vertical plane containing axis Y does not pass through axis X. The dosing device 10 calibrates the amount of substance coming out of the dosing apparatus 1 so a precise quantity is dispensed. There may be a single screw feed 10 or a double screw feed. Walls 33b of the containment chamber 30 may be curved to promote sliding of a powdery substance and to aid cleaning. The screw feed 10 may be in a protuberance 39 of the housing 35. The dosing apparatus 1 may be a micro-batch feeder. Container 30 may be fed from a hopper. Positioning means 50 can allow attachment to a support. |
