PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EGR control device of an internal combustion engine capable of excellently maintaining an exhaust gas characteristic and drivability by securing stable combustion by compressed self-ignition even when the combustion temperature varies by a change in an operation state and an environmental condition of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This EGR control device has a means for calculating an unburnt gas quantity GCYL filled in a cylinder 3a in response to the target unburnt gas temperature by setting the target unburnt gas temperature TempCYL in response to the operation state of the internal combustion engine 3, a means for detecting the temperature TA of fresh air sucked in the cylinder 3a, a means for acquiring the temperature TEXGAS of burnt gas for every combustion, a means for calculating a target EGR quantity (a target inside EGR quantity nEGR) in response to the target unburnt gas temperature TempCYL, the target unburnt gas quantity GCYL, the burnt gas temperature TEXGAS and the fresh air temperature TA, and a means for controlling a variable EGR mechanism 72 capable of changing an EGR quantity based on the target EGR quantity.
