A vacuum cleaner comprising an electric blower, a dust separating part for separating dust from air, a dust collecting part, a filtering and separating part installed rotatably, a communication air passage opening/closing valve (K3) having a drive means for rotating the filtering and separating part and a dust removing means (2100) for removing fine dust adhering to the filtering and separating part and opening and closing a communication air passage allowing the dust separating part to communicate with the filtering and separating part, an outside air inlet (84F) for discharging the removed fine dust to the outside by introducing the outside air to the downstream side of the communication air passage opening/closing valve (K3) and to the upstream side of the filtering and separating part, and an outside air opening/closing valve (K6) for opening and closing the outside air inlet (84F). In a scavenging mode, the communication air passage opening/closing valve (K3) is opened and the outside air opening/closing valve (K6) is closed. In a dust removing mode, the communication air passage opening/closing valve (K3) is closed and the outside air opening/closing valve (K6) is opened. The communication air passage opening/closing valve (K3) and the outside air opening/closing valve (K6) are opened and closed by rotating the filtering and separating part.
