A roller of the machine of continuous casting of billets for supporting the billet on the technological axle of machine is made in the form of a hollow cylinder, on external cylindrical surface of which is applied the layer of metallic material. The thickness of the layer T of metallic material on the external cylindrical surface of roller is determined by the formula T = (0.15...0.20) H, where H - thickness of the basic material of the wall of hollow cylinder. The coefficients of linear expansion of the material of wall of the hollow cylinder K1 and layer of the hard-facing of the metallic material K2 on the external cylindrical surface of roller are determined by the formula K2 = (0.50...0.73) K1.
