A service call system for reprographic machines (10) includes an operator initiated calling routine that automatically communicates the machine with a remote diagnostic or service facility (60). Predetermined data relating to the identity of the machine and the nature of the fault are communicated at the time of the initial call. The system provides for interactive communication to obtain additional information or display status messages at the reprographic machine.
