An illuminating unit and a display device including the illuminating unit are provided to improve color rendering characteristics of displayed images and control white balance on the basis of a current value. A display device includes a cyan LED(Light Emitting Diode) package, a red LED package, a circuit board(4), a light guide(3), and a non-spontaneous light-emitting display element. The cyan light-emitting diode package includes a blue LED(1) to which a resin having phosphor particles dispersed therein is potted. The red LED package includes a red LED(2). The red LED package and the cyan LED package are independently arranged on the circuit board. The light guide is located opposite to the circuit board and mixes red light from the red LED package with cyan light from the cyan LED package such that white light is projected from a light-projecting plane of the light guide. |
