<p>The present invention relates to compositions and methods for treating elevated blood cholesterol in a mammal while counteracting the occurrence of potentially adverse side effects such as myopathy. The compositions useful herein comprise the combination of a pharmaceutically effective amount of a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitor (hereafter 'HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor') and a caspase inhibitor to a mammal in need thereof.</p> |
