PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating tritium capable of separating tritium in the state of tritium water into a high concentration from contaminated water released to ocean from an atomic energy power generation plant, nuclear fuel re-disposal facilities, an atomic reactor related facilities, etc. with a small amount of consumption energy, moreover, safely, efficiently and economically, purifying the contaminated water and releasing the purified water to ocean.SOLUTION: A method for separating tritium includes: a charging process 11 for imparting an electric charge to tritium water by subjecting water containing the tritium water to acid treatment or alkali treatment; and a separation process 12 for subsequently pouring the water to a vertical cylindrical separation tank 22 which is properly filled with pure water and generates a rotating water flow of a prescribed flow rate while making replenishment of the pure water possible, providing a centrifugal force to the tritium water having the electric charge, on the other hand, applying a magnetic field of a proper magnetic flux density B to the water of the separation tank 22 in the direction determined by positive or negative polarities of the electric charges of the tritium water and the direction of the rotating water flow of the water, thereby, causing the tritium water having the electric charges to produce a Lorentz force, gathering the tritium water having the electric charges within the separation tank 22 to a cylindrical layer 28 and separating the tritium water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
