PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent distortion of an image to be read and an image to be written.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: an image reading part that includes a traveling body, the traveling body scanning and reading an image; a driving part that drives the traveling body; an image writing part that includes a photoreceptor and writes the image read by the image reading part in the photoreceptor; and a control part that controls the drive of the traveling body by the driving part at a composite acceleration obtained by composing a first acceleration and a second acceleration while shifting for a period determined according to the cycle of a natural vibration that is generated when the traveling body is driven and determined from a configuration of the image reading part or the image writing part, so as to reduce the acceleration at the start of the drive and at the stop of the drive of the traveling body compared with the acceleration between the start and the stop of the drive.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
