A fluid dynamic element 11 comprising first 13 and second 15 surfaces extending in oppositely from a leading edge 17 meet at a trailing edge to define a body shaped to generate a fluid dynamic force at an angle of attack to a fluid flow U. The first surface comprises an array of fluid inlets 19 each fluidly coupled to a corresponding outlet in an array of respective outlets 21 on the second surface by fluid duct 23, at least part of which is pitched at an angle r to a tangent plane Y G Y to said second surface at the outlet and skewed at an angle d to said fluid flow direction U. In use the element generates high pressure at the first surface and low pressure at the second surface and fluid flows through the ducts into the low pressure to generate vortices which reenergise the low pressure region and delay boundary layer separation from said second surface.
