<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible CDMA base station that reduces equipment cost when starting operation and facilitates to add equipment. <P>SOLUTION: An expandable base station assembles a digital base station unit configured to support a plurality of concurrent speech communications with a public switched network. Two base station units are deployed as a spare for failure when starting operation. When needed to increase a traffic capacity thereafter, an additional base unit is deployed. When sectorization is required, directivity is combined for the plurality of base station units. For each base station unit, two antenna modules with an amplifier disposed at separated locations are connected. An omnidirectional antenna or a directional antenna, a large-power RF amplifier for a transmitting signal, and a low-noise amplifier for a receiving signal are included. A separate power supply module capable of supplying electric power to the two base station units operates as a standby power supply at the time of blackout to configure an uninterruptive power supply apparatus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
