PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame detection apparatus and a flame detection method capable of reducing possibility that a false report may be generated due to a specific radiation source by improving performance of discrimination between infrared rays due to the specific radiation source like arc-welding and infrared rays due to fire flames.SOLUTION: A flame detection apparatus 1 includes: a visible light camera 2 for acquiring a first image of visible light or near infrared light; an infrared camera 3 for acquiring a second image of mid-infrared light; a first level specification part 6a for specifying a first level to be a level of visible light or near infrared light; a second level specification part 6b for specifying a second level to be a level of mid-infrared light; a time difference specification part 6d for specifying a mutual time difference between first timing that a predetermined change is generated in the first level and second timing that a predetermined change is generated in the second level; a discrimination part 6e for discriminating a radiation source of visible light or near infrared light and a radiation source of mid-infrared light on the basis of the time difference; and a fire notification part 7 for outputting fire notification on the basis of the discriminated radiation source. |
