PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that can effectively combine an environment visible for a user with display contents, a method for controlling display device, and a program.SOLUTION: A head-mounted display device 100 is to be used by mounting on a user's body; and includes an image display unit 20 that transmits outside scenery and displays an image to be visible together with the scenery, and a camera 61 that captures scenery in a visual line of the user. A control unit 140 of the head-mounted display device 100 includes: an image generation unit 177 that generates an image for display from the image captured by the camera 61; and an image display control unit 176 that controls the image display unit 20 to display the image for display generated by the image generation unit 177.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
