PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a still image system capable of saving and managing a still image recorded to a photograph, a book, and the like easily. SOLUTION: The reproducer is provided with: a storage part 5 for retrieving an image file recorded to a recording medium and reproducing image data included in the retrieved image file; a monitoring device 9 for displaying an image in accordance with the image data reproduced by the storage part 5; and a system controller 6 for retrieving a desired index file from the recording medium on the basis of management data in a management file and position data in a management information table and controlling the storage part 5 so that one display picture of the monitoring device 9 is composed by the prescribed number of low resolution image data included in the retrieved index file.
