<p>The pressure foot (23) is fastened to one end of a holder (20). This is mounted at its other end, to pivot about a rod (21) which is parallel to the sewing plate (3) and transverse to the direction (8) of material advance. The upper foot (51) is fastened to a lifting lever (47), with drive connected from a lift-connecting rod (46) and a thrust bar (71). The foot is mounted to pivot about a guide (75) associated with the holder (20). In the holder, a rod (48) slides in a slot guide (74). A sliding block (49) surrounds the rod, sliding in the slot. The holder includes a pneumatic cylinder (27), its piston rod (28) pressing the foot against the sewing plate. The lift stroke is can be changed, to adjust the stroke of the upper transport mechanism relative to that of the pressure foot.
