PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image file reading method capable of correctly reading the color information of an image file expressed by a plurality of color spaces. SOLUTION: An image file is inputted (step S1), whether the color spaces of the image file are sRGB or not is determined on the basis of the contents of a color space identification tag (step S3), and when the color spaces are not sRGB, a color space information tag is read out (step s4), an initial conversion matrix is reconstituted on the basis of the read contents and a conversion matrix for converting the color space of main image data from Adobe RGB into an inherent color space is calculated (step S7).
