PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stapler in which staples connected to each other in several connection parts can be stably cut off without supporting them in a wide range. SOLUTION: The stapler has a handle to be pushed down for binding operation by a user, a frame located below the handle and having a paper sheet insertion opening into which paper sheets to be bound are inserted, and a base for supporting the handle and the frame. The frame comprises a forming plate 15 near the front end of a conveyance path along which a connected staples are conveyed, where the forming plate 15 forms the staples into a shape where it is cut off and its both ends are bent in one direction. The frame 8 comprises a driver 18 for causing the staple to penetrate the paper sheets to be bound. The forming plate 15 has two cutting blades 49 on a back side thereof. Each of the cutting blades 49 is fitted to the forming plate 15 in the condition wherein each blade tip 49a is obliquely directed outside and simultaneously a predetermined amount of the blade tip is projecting into the opening part.
