PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having high sensitivity which can practically be used not only for a high-speed copying machine, but also for a laser printer, and to provide especially a new azo compound which is useful as an organic photoconductor to be used for a laminated photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The azo compound is represented by structural formula (1) (wherein Ar is an aromatic hydrocarbon group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, Cp<SB>1</SB>is a di- to hexa-valent group coupler residue represented by structural formula (1-1), Cp<SB>2</SB>is a monovalent coupler residue, n<SB>1</SB>is an integer of 2-6, and n<SB>2</SB>is an integer of 0-3). In the structural formula (1-1), R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, and R<SP>4</SP>are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an amino group, a hydroxy group, a nitro group, a cyano group, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group, X<SP>1</SP>is either a hydrocarbon group or a heterocyclic ring group, and n<SB>3</SB>is an integer of 2-6.
