PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for treating the hair, improving the elasticity of hair in the vicinity of its root while imparting moist feeling to the hair. SOLUTION: The composition for treating hair contains (A) L-theanine and (B) at least one kind selected from an oligosaccharide and a derivative thereof, e.g. at least one kind selected from raffinose, trehalose, sucrose, maltose, cellobiose, palatinose, xylooligosaccharide, fructooligosaccharide, galactooligosaccharide, maltooligosaccharide, inulooligosaccharide, lactosucrose and glucosyltrehalose.
