A case for an overhead light is provided to maximize beauty of an external appearance through an alternate structure of a coating layer and strip lines. A case(100) for an overhead light includes a base(40) and a peripheral frame(30). A ballast(41) and a lamp(42) are assembled on the base. The peripheral frame is coupled to the base and is formed by alternately forming band-shaped uneven grooves(11) and band-shaped uneven protrusions(12) in a longitudinal direction to discharge heat generated from the ballast and the lamp of the base. The case for the overhead light further includes a coating layer(31) and strip lines(32). The coating layer is coated on the surface of the peripheral frame. The strip lines are exposed by grinding the coating layer.
