PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source having a tunable laser diode (t-LD) and a Mach-Zehnder (MZ) modulator in a single package.SOLUTION: The light source outputs a modulated signal beam and a continuous wave (CW) local beam, and has a control circuit mounted on several circuit boards. Only one of a plurality of printed circuit boards is rigidly mounted on the housing of the light source. Other printed circuit boards out of the plurality of printed circuit boards are appropriately fixed to the housing via the firmly fixed circuit board, in order to suppress the stresses generated in the housing and the circuit board when the light source is firmly attached to a host system.SELECTED DRAWING: None
