PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of sorting scan data without requiring a user to add any mark, etc., to a document and without depending on contents of the document, so as to perform suitable processing even when a plurality of documents are placed on a platen, and to also provide a setting method to easily configure setting of scan processing. SOLUTION: A scanner system comprises an image reading means for reading an image on a platen and a document position acquiring means for acquiring a document position on the platen for each of one or more documents placed on the platen. In accordance with a position where a document is placed on the platen, processing operation after image reading processing is changed.
