PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boring tool whose life is extended, and which provides an excellent machined surface by intensively supplying sufficient cutting fluid to a cutting edge. SOLUTION: The boring tool is configured so as to have a throwaway tip 20 having a cutting edge mounted on a tip seat 10 provided on the tip end portion 2 of a shank. The tip end portion 2 of the shank has at least one main pocket 30 extending on at least the tip seat 10 from the tip end face 3 of the shank toward the rear end side of the shank 1. An uprightly arranged surface 13 is provided so as to be continuous with or in the neighborhood of the binding surface 12 of the tip seat 10, and so as to extend upward to be higher than a rake face 22, and so as to face an outer periphery portion 21 of the cutting edge. A passage 71, which faces the outer periphery portion 21 of the cutting edge and discharges fluid such as cutting oil, air or mist, to the outer periphery portion 21 of the cutting edge, is provided inside the shank 1 such that the passage 71 is opened at the position of the uprightly arranged surface 13, which is positioned above the rake face 22.
