摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly heat-resistant gasket, good in sealing performance at 900°C or higher, easy to be handled in manufacturing processes, and inexpensive to be manufactured. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method, 10-50% highly heat resistant inorganic long fibers, 10-20% highly heat resistant inorganic short fibers and 30-60% inorganic fine powder, and 2-10% organic fibers and 5% or less binder are mixed together and made into a sheet. The sheet is cut into a preset shape and then arranged in a sectionally U-shaped metal jacket body member (2). A sectionally I-shaped metal jacket cover member (3) is arranged thereon and caulked into one unit. Then, heat treatment is applied thereto to decompose the organic material and the binder. Thereby, the highly heat resistant gasket (1) is obtained such that an inorganic fiber sheet (5) is formed of a composition containing 10-60% highly heat resistant inorganic long fibers, 5-20% highly heat resistant inorganic short fibers and 20-60% inorganic fine powder and showing the highly heat resistant inorganic long fibers and highly heat resistant inorganic short fibers totalling 15-60% and covered with a metal jacket formed of a heat and corrosion resistant alloy.
