The chain set to fit to a wheel rim (1) has a steel cable sector and rim protection elements (5) fitted to the parts of the chain (3) which comes into contact with the rim. The chain set includes a tensioning chain (6). The rim protection elements act at least partly as a holder for the tensioning chain, or have such a holder (9.1, 9.2, 9.3) fitted to them.
