A method of manufacturing a sand mould from a single sand blank and using a binding agent and waste sand collection

Disclosed is a digital processing method of a large- or medium-size sand mould. The method includes selecting a processing cutter (10) and designing a cutter path according to a three-dimensional CAD model of a casing mould. The method also includes deleting short segments of a processing path according to the size and precision requirement of a part to be processed. Processing code acceptable to processing equipment is then generated according to the designed path and processing parameters. The method also includes selecting appropriate moulding sand and binding agent according to casting technique requirements so as to manufacture a sand blank used in numerical control processing. The sand blank is then placed on a hollow, grid-shaped processing platform (1) for digital milling processing. Waste sand is removed during processing by high-pressure gas blown from a nozzle (11) near a cutter head (10) and allowed to enter into a collecting device (2) below the processing plat form (1) through meshes of the processing platform (1). A post-processing procedure is then performed on a resultant finished sand mould. An apparatus for use in this method is also disclosed.
