The cutter (1) with a motor drive, e.g. for cutting metal sheets and cables, has a fixed blade (10) and a moving blade (9) moved by a piston (5) with a piston rod (29) and cylinder (13). The moving blade pivots on the fixed blade at a swing axis (y). The piston rod is linked (19) to the moving blade, to shift it in a radial direction to the swing axis.
