PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device requiring a smaller installation area while exhibiting improved printing accuracy and reliability. SOLUTION: In the case of recording on recording paper whose long side is longer than a predetermined length and whose short side is shorter than a predetermined length, an image forming means forms an image on the recording paper which is fed from a storage part in a direction parallel to the short side while a carrying means carries the fed recording paper with its long side in a direction parallel to the carrying direction. In the case of recording on a recording paper whose long side is shorter than the predetermined length, the image forming means forms an image on the recording paper which is fed from the storage part in a direction parallel to the short side while the carrying means carries the fed recording paper with its long side in a direction parallel to the carrying direction.
