PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber connecting device suppressing the increase in optical loss by suppressing diffusion of light propagating in a refractive index matching agent. SOLUTION: The optical fiber connecting device includes: an optical fiber arrangement device 21 in which one optical fiber 22 and the other optical fiber 23 are disposed facing each other so as to abut against each other with a gap between end faces; and the refractive index matching agent 24 provided between the gap in the end faces of the optical fibers 22, 23, for preventing Fresnel reflection, wherein a temperature controller 25 is provided, which controls the temperature of the refractive index matching agent 24.
