Extraction cleaner with removable nozzle portion

A cleaning apparatus, such as an extraction cleaner, for cleaning a surface in which cleaning solution is dispensed to the surface and substantially simultaneously extracted along with the dirt on the surface in a continuous operation is provided. The cleaning apparatus comprises a housing, a liquid distribution system operatively associated with the housing for distributing cleaning solution to the surface. A recovery tank is removably mounted to the housing and a suction nozzle is connected to the housing so that it is in fluid communication with the recovery tank. The suction nozzle includes a front nozzle portion and a rear nozzle portion, the front nozzle portion being removably mounted to said rear nozzle portion. The front nozzle portion including opposite side portions and the rear nozzle portion including opposite side portions, with each of the side portions of the rear nozzle portion having a recessed area for receiving a side portion of the front nozzle portion. The front nozzle portion preferably includes a hand grip for removing the front nozzle portion from the rear nozzle portion.
