The manufacturing process produces a wire locking ring (3) with at least one closed winding. The rod wire (1, 2) of defined length and with burr-free ends is produced and bent into the required annular shape round a mandrel (4) using two other mandrels (6) on the outside of the bend. The ring produced by this process is also described.
