Provided is a steering wheel grip detection device comprising a positive electrode terminal which is electrically connected to the positive electrode of a power source, and a negative electrode terminal which is electrically connected to the negative electrode of the power source. Moreover, the steering wheel grip detection device has a serial circuit in which a thermostat, a heater, and an inductance element are electrically connected in that order from the positive electrode terminal to the negative electrode terminal. Moreover, the steering wheel grip detection device has a capacitor which is electrically connected between the negative electrode terminal and a wiring path between the thermostat and the heater. The steering wheel grip detection device also has an electrostatic sensor circuit which is electrically connected to a wiring path between the inductance element and the heater and which detects gripping of a steering wheel on the basis of the capacitance value of the heater.
