PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for identifying a bicycle, with which a bicycle can be identified without stopping the bicycle when lending/ returning the bicycle. SOLUTION: A medium having a function for transmitting recorded contents by being excited with electromagnetic waves transmitted within a close distance is mounted on the suitable position of the bicycle after previously recording bicycle identification information for identifying the bicycle on this medium, the bicycle identification information is transmitted from the medium by passing the bicycle mounted with the medium within the close distance from an electromagnetic wave transmitting/identification information receiving means for transmitting the electromagnetic waves, with which the medium is excited, and receiving the bicycle identification information transmitted from the medium and next, the bicycle is identified by receiving the bicycle identification information with the electromagnetic wave transmitting/identification information receiving means.
