PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the diameter of an optical fiber bundle, to improve packing ratio and to realize simply and easily high quality manufacturing of the fiber bundle. SOLUTION: An acid resolution glass tube 12 and a ferrule for reducing diameter 13 are successively attached and positioned to a fiber bundle 10 made by bundling coated optical fibers 101, the diameter is reduced by a diameter-reducing die 15 in a heating furnace 14, the acid resolution glass tube 12 is dissolved by dipping in a dissolving liquid 161, the ferrule for reducing diameter 13 is removed from the fiber bundle 10, the dissolving liquid 161 is displaced, and a fiber fusion part 11 with a reduced diameter is formed at the end part.
