PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate valve for reducing a thickness of a valve element without impairing a sealing function, and a branch pipe connection device including the gate valve.SOLUTION: The gate valve 2 includes a valve casing 21 constituting a portion of a conduit, a valve element 22 moving between a closed position for blocking a flow path in the valve casing 21 and an open position for opening the flow path, and a valve stem 23 for operating the displacement of the valve element 22. The valve element 22 is formed of a plate having a thin-film-like sealing material 3, and faces the valve stem 23 from one of sides in the direction of a tube axis at the open position. The gate valve is structured such that a gap between the valve element 22 at the closed position and the valve casing 21 is sealed with the sealing material 3 compressed in the direction of the tube axis. |
