<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet printer which is improved in the accuracy of waste ink amount counting when borderless printing is carried out. <P>SOLUTION: According to the operation of the ink-jet printer, a printing starting location and a printing ending location of a recording medium for each path are grasped based on printing job data 20, by a printing location grasping means, and by comparing the printing starting location and the printing ending location with a paper width, determination as to whether bulging of ink occurs or not for each path (S4). Then based on a result of the determination, waste ink amount counting is carried out for a path where the bulging of ink occurs, corresponding to the bulging of ink on right and left sides (S8), but the waste ink amount counting is not carried out for a path where no bulging of ink occurs, corresponding to the bulging of ink on the right and left sides. Further based on the result of the determination, if the bulging of ink occurs even in a single path, waste ink amount counting is carried out corresponding to the bulging of ink on upper and lower sides (S21), but if no bulging of ink occurs in every path, the waste ink amount counting on the upper and lower sides is not carried out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
