The present invention provides a portable terminal device and a control method thereof, which enable a user to input marker information to searched information displayed by a desired application when the user searches the information using the desired application in the portable terminal device, and to input the marker information in a search screen when the user needs the searched information displayed by the application so that the distributed searched information are displayed by the application at one time. The portable terminal device includes: a user input unit which receives a user′s input; a display unit which displays an image of an application; a storage unit which stores information on the application; and a control unit which receives marker information for a search corresponding to information displayed by the application in accordance with the user′s input while the application is executed, controls the storage unit to store the received marker information and the information displayed by the application to correspond to each other, and controls the display unit to display the information displayed by the application, which is stored to correspond to the inputted marker information when a search request including the marker information is inputted. Therefore, when a user searches information using a desired application in the portable terminal device, the portable terminal device and the control method thereof enable the user to input marker information to searched information displayed by the application, to store the searched information, and to input the marker information in a search screen when needing the searched information so that the searched information displayed by the application is displayed.
