PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant composition for metalworking that is excellent in workability and suppresses generation of abrasion powder and of roll coating during a rolling process at the time of metalworking of a plate or foil of a metal or its alloy, especially of a plate or foil of a nonferrous metal such as aluminum etc., and can obtain a product excellent in surface quality. SOLUTION: The lubricant composition for metalworking comprises a base oil comprised of a mineral oil and/or a synthetic oil, (A) a glycerol derivative represented by general formula (I) of 0.01-5.0 mass% based on the total amount of the composition and (B) an oil-based agent of 0.1-15 mass%, wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is an alkyl-, alkenyl-, or arylalkyl-group, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, A<SP>1</SP>O and A<SP>2</SP>O are each an oxyalkylene group, n is 0, 1, or 2, and p+q represents an average added mole number and is 0 to 5.
