PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk reproducing device capable of performing focusing by suppressing surface wobbling when surface wobbling is too large to perform the focusing during a focus setting operation in an optical disk reproducing device, and optical disk reproducing method. SOLUTION: When the signal plane of an optical disk 12 and the objective lens of an optical pickup cannot be focused during the focus setting operation, a microcomputer 10 instructs a servo signal processing part 5 to increase the rotating speed of a disk motor 2 to a maximum rotating speed and performs focusing at the maximum rotating speed again. When focusing is made, the maximum rotating speed is lowered to the rotating speed in a normal reproduction mode to reproduce the optical disk 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
