The accumulator has a housing (10) with gas (14) and fluid chambers (16) divided by a moveable diaphragm (12), with a cover part (20) to cover an intake (18) in the housing. The intake is part of a contact dome (28), which projects axially into the housing along its longitudinal axis. When the fluid chamber is empty, part of the diaphragm between its fastening edge (24) and the closure part are located in a circular recess (32) between the contact dome and a fastener unit (26) for the diaphragm. The dome has a connection socket (36) with valve unit (46) inside the housing.
