A speed control system (1) for limiting and/or regulating the speed of a wheeled article (2) is provided, wherein the wheeled article (2) comprises a body (4) and one or more wheels (6), the speed control system (1) adapted to, by actuation of a user actuator (12), actuate one or more brake units (10), and a restriction means (14) to limit the magnitude of a braking force applied to the one or more wheels (6) so as to enable a safe and controlled reduction in speed.

1. A speed control system for a wheeled article which is adapted to regulate and/or limit the speed of the wheeled article, the wheeled article comprising a body and one or more wheels mounted to the body, the speed control system comprising;
one or more brake units provided so as to engage one or more of the one or more wheels and apply a braking force thereto; a user actuator disposed so as to be operable by a user; a control unit adapted to receive a signal indicative of the actuation of the user actuator when operated by the user and actuate the one or more brake units to engage the one or more wheels; and restriction means adapted to limit the magnitude of the braking force applied to the one or more wheels from the one or more brake units.
