PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy storage device where a lithium ion can be doped into an electrode layer of a negative electrode sheet uniformly in a short time, without causing deterioration in the electrode layer.SOLUTION: There is disclosed a lithium ion capacitor comprising: an electrode unit where a positive electrode sheet and the negative electrode sheet which are formed into the electrode layers for each collector are arranged so that those sheets may be piled up through a sheet-like separator; and an electrolytic solution containing a lithium salt. By electrochemical contact between the electrode layer of the of the negative electrode sheet and a lithium ion source, the electrode layer of the lithium ion capacitor is doped with the lithium ion emitted from the lithium ion source. The lithium ion source is characterized in that the source is film-shaped having a thickness of not smaller than 1 μm and smaller than 5 μm, and that the source is formed integrally with the separator between the electrode layer of the negative electrode sheet and the separator. |
