PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus that can reduce the degradation of image quality due to the occurrence of density difference between toner images of respective colors. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus holds a first developer of a first color and reverse transcription inhibitor in a first image forming part 1b, 1c, 1d; provides a predetermined charge to the first developer; supplies the first developer to the image part of an image carrier; provides the first developer and the charge of reverse polarity to the reverse transcription inhibitor; supplies the reverse transcription inhibitor to the image part and a non-image part, having a predetermined potential difference; and brings the image carrier 3b, 3c, 3d of the first image forming part into contact with a transfer medium P, where a second developer of a second color which is different from the first color of a second image forming part 1a, 1b, 1c is already transferred and transfers the first developer to the transfer medium.
