Disclosed is a cylindrical key (1) and a lock for use with the key. The key (1) comprises a shaft (3) for inserting into the lock comprising two guide grooves (15a, 15b), a central cavity (36), and a lateral cut (10) which extends to the central cavity (36). The shaft (3), in it’s basic shape, is cylindrical with a cylindrical sector (37a) for each guide groove (15a, 15b). The lateral cut (10) separates the cylindrical sectors (37a) and defines a longitudinal torque-transferring guide surface (12) on each side of the cut (10). When the key is inserted into the lock the guide grooves (15a, 15b) form a path which is followed by protrusions of each of the turnable tumbler discs to allow the inner cylinder to release and rotate with respect to the cylinder lock. |
