<p>Production of a polymer mixture, comprises: a first polymerization step, in which monomer (M) is reacted by atom transfer radical polymerization in a mixture, which contains a transition metal cation, at least a bidentate ligand, an atom transfer polymerization initiator, a reducing agent and a monomer (M); and a second polymerization step, in which silyl group substituted monomer (S) is added to the mixture originated from the first polymerization step, so that the silyl groups substituted monomer (S) is reacted by atom transfer radical polymerization. Production of a polymer mixture, comprises: a first polymerization step, in which monomer (M) is reacted by atom transfer radical polymerization in a mixture, which contains a transition metal cation, at least a bidentate ligand, an atom transfer polymerization initiator, a reducing agent and a monomer (M); and a second polymerization step, in which silyl group substituted monomer (S) is added to the mixture originated from the first polymerization step, so that the silyl groups substituted monomer (S) in the mixture separated from the first polymerization step, is reacted by atom transfer radical polymerization, where the second polymerization step is then initiated only when at least 50 mol.% of the monomers used in the first polymerization step are reacted by atom transfer radical polymerization, and the used monomers (M) and (S) are added with the proviso that in the first polymerization step 1-1000 times more moles of monomers (M) are reacted by atom transfer radical polymerization as compared to the moles of monomer (S) reacted by atom transfer radical polymerization in the second polymerization step. The monomer (M) comprises atom transfer radical polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated compounds, which exhibit no silyl groups and the monomer (S) contains atom transfer radical polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated compounds, which respectively contains at least a silyl group. Independent claims are included for: (1) a polymer mixture producible by the above method; and (2) a copolymer, which is present in the polymer mixture and contains trimethoxy- and/or triethoxy-substituted silyl groups.</p> |
